The Holy Bible contains a very thrilling account of one of the most famous victories of Israel: Gideon and his army against the overwhelmingly large army of the Midianites. What was so special about this battle in particular? Well, for starters, his original army kept shrinking – from 32,000 men to a measly 300. But these three hundred men were the most earnest, obedient, battle-ready men of Israel. God ensured that these were the men who would stay with Gideon.
But even so, what war could ever be won with just three hundred men? Especially against an army of tens of thousands of warriors. All the odds were against Gideon. But he knew that God was on his side, and God always wins. And that’s why they won; that’s why this is one of Israel’s most memorable wars – because there was no way Gideon could have won that day. Only God could’ve done it. And He did.
You know what else comes to my mind when I think of Gideon and his battle?
Trump and the elections.
Well, I firmly believe that the USA is one of the last few countries that still holds a large number of Christians. It should be a surprise, then, that it’s considered ‘offensive’ to wish people Merry Christmas, in the land that was founded by Christians. But it’s not. This is because the DNC was so subtly yet blatantly paving the way for everything against Christians and their faith, that this election would have been the last hope for American believers. The Islamists, the LGBT community, basically everyone except the Christians would have benefitted from Hillary’s presidency. And this was essentially the only real reason that Trump was subjected to so much hate – he was standing for Christians and was against their persecution. John 19-21 says this: And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness more than light, because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever practices the truth comes into the Light, so that it may be clearly seen that what he has done has been accomplished in God.”
It’s true. EVERY single factor was against him. The democrats, the republicans, the media and even many Christians themselves. Like Gideon, all the odds were against him. But also like Gideon, God was on Trump’s side right from the beginning. Despite the rigged system, the voter fraud, the media, and everyone being incredibly discouraging, he is now the president-elect. And only God could’ve won it.
What we have here is God against the powers and principalities. I’m not trying to make this sound like just another conspiracy theory, but if you look at everything that has happened these last few months, you can see a greater force at work here. A force determined to keep the nation of America blind and to destroy it internally. It is said a nation can fend off external enemies and still survive and rebuild itself. But a nation that implodes? It becomes extinct. And that is exactly what would have happened with America, as more and more people have been turning against God and ridiculing/persecuting/bullying those who follow Christ.
I think it would be wise for Christians to give Trump a chance. He has very obviously stood up for Christians so instead of joining your persecutors, support him and give your country back to God. Turn your focus away from petty things and back to the Great Commission. You definitely have been given one heck of a chance to live out your faith. But we have no idea how long this will last. So make hay while the sun shines, walk while there’s still light – it will get dark soon, and you know it.
